It’s the time of year when you go home from a long day of work, drained from the dropping temperatures of Ohio, and the last thing you want to do is have to figure out what to make for dinner. But wait, picture this – you come in from work and you smell that sweet aroma of what was the best idea you had all week... you put something in your slow cooker this morning for a tasty dinner. You’re hungry, but smiling because all you have to do is just get out a dish and enjoy.
Let’s back up to before you dig in. You are standing in the kitchen trying to plan out the week’s dinners ahead of time to save time later. You think, what can I make? No fear, here are two easy to make slow cooker recipes!
Rainy Day Chili
Servings: 4
Ingredients:
- 1 lb ground beef
- 2, 16 oz jars of spaghetti sauce
- 1 can of diced tomatoes, drained
- 3 cans of chili beans drained
- 1 packet of chili seasoning mix
- Minced onions to taste
- Chili powder to taste
Instructions:
- In a large skillet on medium heat add ground beef. Cook until browned then drain
- Add chili mix packet to browned meat, simmer until mixed in
- Add browned ground beef and remaining ingredients to slow cooker
- Stir well
- Cover and cook on low for 5-7 hours
- Taste and add more chili powder if needed
- Serve
Ham and Beans Delight
Servings: 4
Ingredients:
- 2 jars of Northern Beans (do not drain)
- 2 cups of diced or cubed ham
- Water
- Ham base to taste
Instructions:
- Add ingredients to slow cooker
- Add water to preferred thickness
- Add ham base to taste
- Stir well
- Cover and cook on low for 5-7 hours
- Taste and add more ham base if needed
- Serve
