Spruce up your home this holiday season!
It’s officially November and you know what that means…the holiday season is in full swing. Have you thought about how you’re going to get your home up to par for holiday gatherings and family visits? If not, don’t panic. We are here to help you make quick, inexpensive and festive holiday decorations that will impress the whole family!
Gratitude Board
Materials:
- Old Picture Frame
- Piece of Linen
- Foam Block
- Construction Paper
- Push Pins
- Markers/Pens
- Scissors
- Glue/Stapler
To make your message board look a bit more polished and elegant, the first step is to take a piece of linen and use it to cover up a block of foam with glue or a stapler. (Note: This piece of foam will be crucial in ensuring your push pins stay in place on the message board later.)
Place your new and improved foam/linen duo into any old picture frame and you’ll have the main base of your message board! Finish the board off by writing “I am grateful for…” at the top in any way you choose (markers, construction paper letters, etc.).
Next, shape different colored construction paper into leaves and lay them out in front of the board. Finally, encourage your guests to write a short gratitude message on the leaves and pin each to the board! This quick and easy gratitude message board will add holiday cheer and get everyone in the holiday spirit!
Thankful Turkey
Materials:
- Large Pinecone
- Construction/Scrapbook Paper
- Googly Eyes
- Scissors
- Glue
First, take a large pinecone and determine how many feathers you would like to add. Use construction or scrapbook paper to cut out feather shapes (Tip: Fray the feather edges a bit to look a little more life-like). Next, make the turkey’s head by cutting a circle and oval shape to form the turkey’s head (circle) and body (oval). Add the googly eyes, a beak, and a snood (or the “gobbler”) and glue the body and face together adding the eyes, beak and gobbler to the head.
Next you will want to glue these pieces onto the pinecone. One side of the pinecone will be the front body/head and the opposite side is where you will want to glue your feathers. Have your holiday guests write what they are thankful for on each of the feathers and relish in your Thanksgiving gratitude all season long!
We hope these fun decorations will spice up your holiday parties and maybe even become a family tradition. The above listed items can be found at your local Marc’s. Be sure to check out our weekly
