Directions

  1. Add your liquid base. Start off by adding 1 cup of liquid into your blender for your base. You could use ingredients such as fruit juice, low-fat milk, dairy-free milk, coconut water or just water.
  2. Add fruit and/or vegetables. Avocados or banana make for an excellent base in nearly any smoothie, since it has a mild taste and is very creamy in consistency. Some other fruits and veggies that work really well in smoothies are pineapple, berries, papaya, kiwi, grapes, mango, peaches, pears and spinach.
  3. Thicken your smoothie to get a great texture of creamy and thick, as well as to balance the acidity from the fruit. This will also make your smoothie more filling and nutritious. Add in ingredients such as yogurt, nut butter, chia or flax seeds or oats for a smoother, better tasting smoothie.
  4. Boost your flavor. Sweeten your smoothie by adding some ingredients like dates or honey, maple syrup or agave syrup. Add spices or herbs such as cinnamon, nutmeg, vanilla extract, and mint to make your smoothie extra tasty!
  5. Add in some super foods. To make your smoothie extra healthy, add in ingredients like goji berries, wheatgerm, protein powder, and flaxseed.
  6. Enjoy!
